Okay so, this guy has been harassing me about writing a review, maybe I should get him done for it, but... my fault for being a complete slacker in the internet department. But now I have some time, so I'm listening. And I probably, like always, should have listened earlier, Fulangchangandi are London-based noise formed from the ashes of other bands (copy+paste that, I don't actually know what the other bands are, maybe they were good? Who knows?!). Bottle Top Against A Brick kicks things off with some nice post rocky guitar wrangles, part Mogwai part Slint. Then the Slint slammer comes in with the muffled spoken words carpeted underneath the sickly sweet layers of apocolyptical awkwardness. No, hang on it's not apocolyptical, but it certainly has an edge to it, or some kind of black storm looming over waiting for a butterfly to flap its wings. You know the score, its a great mix, almost like the theme tune to a more mainstream curated ATP festival. Though minus the alcohol and bingo. Though I'm sure the old ladies with their dabbing pens could listen to this. It's weird as somehow it feels fresh, take the closing track Emergency, there is a weird feeling of nostalgia, but it doesn't manage to overpower the fact that this is pretty exciting stuff. So what if there is some cool namedropping going on, hey if I ever got likened to Slint I would probably wet myself with joy do the cool post rock thing and just mumble a bit and be secretly ultra pleased. Highly enjoyable indeed, another band to put on the metaphorical one to watch list that seems to be growing bigger each week.
