Saw these guys at last years Melvin & Mike Patton ATP and they really were rather good from what I can remember, so finally after almost a year (plus time for my slackness of doing this review) they have their debut out and its also really rather good stuff. With a lineup picked by Trevor Dunn, this is a very straight ahead album of what can only be described as not-quite-so-pop punk rock or something. In other words this is a stupidly instantly enjoyable album that doesn't actually do anything new whatsoever to the world of music but is a hell of a lot of fun.

If anythinig this is possibly pretty unexpected stuff from Dunn, he is well known for his work with Fantomas, Mr Bungle and others so this could come as some surprise. Everything here is simply song and melody based greatness. Of course his bass is still there mashed in with crunchy riffs and keyboards. But the comercial side of all this is astonishing, of course that won't happen, but damn it should. Dirty is a great example of this that stands up as one of the best songs I have heard all year! Vocals are mostly provided by Sunny Kim with her strangly androgenous sounding voice, they work a treat, almost erethal in places, especially on In Love (In Theory).

There isn't really a huge amout to say about this though, not that it's a bad one, far from it. I have been listening to these awesome 12 songs for a good while now and it just is what it is. It's not particulary something to scream about, but who gives a damn? It's bloody great!
