Well then, this took me long enough to get round to doing didn't it? Oh well no change there, better late than never etc etc. This here then is the debut (and probably the last) album from Nosferatu D2, now split up this posthumous album has been put out by Audio AntiHero in another great stand against the gigantic and soul destroying behemoths known as the major labels. So, that's a pretty good start already then.

Though syaing that, I guess the first thing to get out of the way is the vocals. They don't do it for me and to some degree ruin these nine tracks. But then again, not everyone is a good or even great singer, right? Although after a few listens they do seem to fit in well to the musical chaos gutting everything in it's path along the way. I mean, they are not awful or grating... just a slight offputting at times.

Anyway, on with it.. Nosferatu D2 put out one hell of a scratchy off kilter racket, with guitar work at times akin to the jarring face assault that Steve Albini is known for. And all the better for it I say. By the time we get to Colonel Parker things slow down away from the garage blast of the previous two tracks and turn into something a lot darker and unsettling. With odd time signatures and breaks these tracks don't half surprise. And as much as I hate to name drop, the music here only really makes me think of Constellation Records's debut release by the band Sofa. The same urgency and unease runs through the veins here, crasdhing through most things be it at at a relentless and at the same time brooding pace... though whether the lyrics are along the same lines I have no idea.

Still, an excellent releases and a great sign of things to come from Audio Anti Hero. Well worth picking up AND it's only six quid in the UK so there is NO excuse.
